Application Foundation

QAD has been developing business software solutions since 1979. During this time there have been significant developments in both the requirements of customers and available technologies to support software applications. QAD has a philosophy of embracing new technologies as they emerge to make our products easier to use, faster to deploy and simpler to support. This, combined with a focus on constant functional evolution, has resulted in the architecture of QAD’s products today.

QAD applications feature a solid and robust foundation using a Service Oriented Architecture, a simple and configurable core application architecture to support global deployment, and an intuitive and attractive user interface.

QAD Application Architecture Foundation

At the foundation of QAD’s application architecture sits the core business logic engine. The core engine has been developed to allow access to all functions and data via QAD’s Service Oriented Architecture.

QAD extended modules connect to the core business logic using QXtend, QAD’s Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) suite. QXtend also allows simple integration to other applications, data sources and can call or connect to web services. Using QXtend, all business functions are accessible via a suite of open and published Application Programming Interfaces (API’s).

QXtend supports multiple instances of QAD Enterprise Applications and remote connections to other data sources or web services. QXtend can connect via an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) such as Progress Sonic, and can coexist with other existing middleware strategies such as IBM’s MQ or Tivoli.

QAD’s application architecture foundation makes QAD Enterprise Applications simple to integrate with, as well as allowing deployment and upgrade of any QAD components.
